Well, that certainly makes it easier. When you say you were an instructor, I take it you don't just mean supervising your crew on your ship? You taught at an educational institution as well?

Thank you. I do use it in my writing. I'm an investigative reporter and I've just written my first book, back home. It might not seem that a writer would use analytical skills in their work but I do: when I gather facts about a story or a case I want to write about, I do need to figure out which facts are important and which are not. Analytical thinking also does play a part in the creative process, in deciding how to structure and tell the story based on the information you have.

When I was last home, it was December of 2017. I say "just" but it's been nearly fifty years since we first landed on the moon. In my time we had sent unmanned probes beyond the solar system, and to Mars and Jupiter for extended exploration.

May I ask what year it was in your home? And where you hail from, if not Earth?

Correct. I taught advanced phonology to Starfleet cadets during their years at the academy. It is the equivalent to university study, I gather.

Your grasp of logical approaches to writing is exemplary. While I am unacquainted with many authors in my world, the descriptions of their writing process often lacks any logic or analysis, and some might benefit from a more studied approach such as one you hold.

I'm sad to hear of the loss you and your people have encountered. I hope that you all have been able to reunite and rebuild somehow.

Your sympathies are appreciated. My people have found a new planet upon which to settle and are attempting to recreate what they can.

I imbibe both, though tea is my preference. Are you by chance suggesting a coffee date?

What is your schedule like?

Very open. I haven't taken a job and I have few other commitments currently.

And what about your schedule?

I am currently employed at the library and am considering a second position, but neither cut drastically into my time. I am used to schedule management and require less sleep than humans.

That being said, I am most often free early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
